On January 11, 2018, Ms. Rosemary Starobin informed female students of a new opportunity for those interested in engineering! She informed them through a mass email sent to their Prince George’s County Public School emails.
According to their website, “The mission of WIE (Women in Engineering) is to recruit, retain and advance women in engineering, and this conference provides 500 high school and community college students with the opportunity to explore the innovations and applications of engineering.”
The Women in Engineering Conference will be held at the University of Maryland on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., free of cost.
Their conference has incorporated sessions that cover the following topics: the Engineering Student Experience, DREAM Jobs, Navigating the Transfer Student Process, and Examining Engineering Dispiclines.
A bonus to applying for this program is that participants of the WIE program who receive acceptance into the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering are eligible to receive up to $2,500 from the WIE’s DREAM scholarship.
