Due to the traumatic event that took place in Parkland, Florida, it is very difficult to tell if our own high schools are safe. It is not fair to have students go to school feeling unsafe. It is also not fair to those students’ parents, who send their children to school which is supposed to be a place for them to receive an education and helps themselves make something of themselves in life. It is not a place for students to constantly be in fear.
As most may know, there was a mass school shooting that took place on February 14, 2018, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The teen gunman accused of opening fire with a semi-automatic rifle at his former high school in Parkland, Florida, has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder, officials confirmed today February 15, 2018. The gunman, a former student at this high school, ruined the lives of many students. Fourteen others were wounded, five with life-threatening injuries, hospital officials said. Countless families are either grieving the lives of their children or watching injured children closely.
