Protect The TPS

President Donald Trump has declared that the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program protecting more than 200,000 Salvadoran families will soon be closing forcing almost all Salvadoran immigrants in the country to move back to their homeland of El Salvador.

Many Salvadoran families in the community are in fear of returning to their country due to the increase of gang violence in El Salvador. As a result, Salvadoran families are scared to bring their families and their children because of the possibility that a gang in El Salvador will take their children and force them to join. Additionally, the police officers in El Salvador are contributing to the problem as they are not doing their jobs out of fear of gang retribution and government-funded support to the gangs themselves. The gangs are the real reason why people are now starting to come to the U.S.  Salvadoran gangs are literally running the country extorting for rent, taking children away from families, and killing people they see as a threat.

Amidst everything currently ongoing in El Salvador living life in the U.S isn’t easy either, President Trump is letting immigration officers go into people’s homes and take them into custody although they are supposed to have a warrant to enter. Immigration control has taken it too far and has devolved into illegally barging into the homes of thousands of Latino families to kick them out of their homes and ship them off to a country not safe enough to raise a family.  This has left the Latino community on their heels…

President Trump needs to know that every race and ethnicity matters in this world, whether you’re black, white, blue-green, a life is a life and everyone needs to be heard. Trump needs to know that the U.S isn’t just the home of your typical “American” instead it is the home of all who see America as their home and take pride in that fact, whether they are natural born citizens or aliens waiting to be naturalized. We should all work together to make the world a better place for future generations, we should be moving forward in the world not backward.
