On the evening of Tuesday September 4, 2018, it was announced on the PGCPS website that on Wednesday September 5, 2018, the second day of the school, Prince George’s County Public Schools will be running on an early dismissal schedule due to the hot temperatures, which many anticipate to go over 90 degrees. This isn’t the most ideal situation for amen schools. According to one FOX 5 article: “A Prince George’s County Public Schools spokesperson told FOX 5 that while all 208 schools in the school district have air conditioning, 40 schools are having different levels of problems with their air conditioning.” Furthermore, the PGCPS website states: “Wednesday, September 5, 2018 – Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) will dismiss all schools two hours early on Wednesday, September 5 due to high temperatures. All after school and evening activities, including Evening High School, are cancelled. Food Services will provide lunch. School Based Staff can leave with students. Central office and emergency personnel are to follow their regular schedule. We will reassess for Thursday, September 6.”
As for interns and half-day students at CHFHS, Ms.Cotton, the S/T coordinator, said this on the Remind App:
Stay hydrated in the hot weather everyone and make the most of your time off tomorrow!
