After 7 years of being defeated by Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders, the Varsity Girls Soccer Team prevailed and beat the Raiders 2-1. The Lady Jags entered the game with a positive attitude and a lot of intensity. In the first half of the game, the Raiders scored the first goal of the game. After the Raiders goal, the Jaguars started playing mentally and physically strong. Madinah Whitney scored the first goal for the Jaguars, tying the game 1-1. The Raiders continued to pressure the ball down the field and take many opportunities on goal. The defense lead by Raven V. Felder and Morgan Miles had a major impact on the outcome of the game. The midfield and defense worked together by pressuring the ball and pushing the ball upfield to our strikers. In the second half, Beulah Odiong got fouled in the goalie box, which gave the Jaguars a free kick. The free kick was scored by Kaisery Kargbo, bringing the score to 2-1. The Jaguars played together as a team to defeat the Raiders, even with some adversities. Three of our Jaguars received yellow cards (Ola Zubairu(M), Nya Benson(G), Beulah Odiong(M) from judgemental calls from the officials. The Raiders had one more direct penalty kick to tie the game, with Kaisery Kargbo playing goalie for the last minute of the game, she made an incredible save to help us win the game. This was one of the toughest games of the season for the Lady Jags. They played with high intensity, mentally strong, aggressiveness, and with teamwork. Coach Richmond and Coach Brijbasi pushed this team to their highest potential and made them the team that they are today. The Jaguars current record for the 2018-19 season is 6-2. We wish them more success as their season continues!
