An Ode to Uncle Dean

Uncle Dean,

You are one of the greatest men I’ve ever met. I don’t have a lot to say other than, thank you so much for everything you’ve done for my family.  You were always there to support us through whatever and that’s why it hurts so much to lose you. Sometimes, I would hope that you would wake up and say, “I’m back”.  But that’s life and life doesn’t stop.  I wish it didn’t have to end that way but, it’s God’s choice and we can’t tell Him anything different. I hope your daughter is ok without you.  I’ll check on her if I can. I can remember the last thing I told you: that I got my learners permit. You were happy and told me, “You will take care of me when you are older.”  I am so hurt for missing your burial, I hope you are resting in peace Uncle Dean.

Your favorite nephew,

Ahmed
