“After a long-awaited season opener, full of anticipation, the Flowers boys varsity soccer team defeated reigning 2018 4A South Region champs Bladensburg High School 4-2 in a come-from-behind whirlwind. The stage was set after storms delayed the start of the game and a rainbow set in the background over our great school. A total team effort was rewarded with the “pot of gold” in the end. Senior captains Nile Keiller and Peter Gansallo each tallied a brace (2 goals). Gansallo has been a 4-year varsity selection at Flowers & Nile Keiller decided to experience high school soccer after playing in the United States Developmental Academy system over the last 4 years.
Coach Trenton Brijbasi, in his first year as Varsity boys head coach, has fostered a sense a comradely and has emphasized a, “never take the foot off the gas pedal” which proved essential in the win. “
