Flowers Student Wins NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computer Science

[Bowie, Maryland] – Charles Herbert Flowers High School student Nasrin Ali has received the Maryland Affiliate NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. She has also received honorable mention on the national level. The award, sponsored by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), recognizes high school students who identify as women, genderqueer and non-binary for their computing-related achievements and interests as part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose careers in technology.

A total of 4010 award recipients were selected from high schools across the country for their outstanding aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and plans for post-secondary education.

Each recipient will receive:

»      access to resources, scholarships and internship opportunities 

 

“Encouraging young women’s interest in technology careers is critical: our workforce needs their creativity and their innovation,” said Lucy Sanders, CEO, and Co-founder of NCWIT.
