On Sunday, October 10, 2017, 59 people were killed and 489 people were injured by Stephen Paddock at a music festival in Las Vegas.
At 10:08 pm, Sunday night, Paddock started to shoot people from the window of the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino across the music festival. He was using smuggled weapons and ammunition to shoot at the crowds from about 1000 ft away. After the shooting, Paddock’s body was found in his hotel room. He had taken his own life after committing the heinous crime.
It is suspected that Paddock had some help, based on the fact that he had about 23 firearms in his hotel room as well as 50 Lbs of explosives and 1600 rounds of ammunition in his car.
The reason for why Paddock committed this crime is still unknown and the case is pending further investigation.
