On Monday, October 9, 2017, the Charles Herbert Flowers High School special needs students participated in a presentation, learning about concrete poems.
A concrete poem is another name for a shape poem. In this presentation, the students learned about the different types of shape poems and the meaning of it. The students reviewed the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty.” The students also discussed the differences between regular poems and concrete poems. Next time they meet, they will begin to create their own concrete poems. At the end of the presentation, the students checked out two poem books, and must analyze them. It was very enlightening working with these students. It was interesting to see how those with challenges learn and process information.
