City Council

Jimmy Edme

The Glenarden city council is preparing to repeal a current Charter Resolution that was adopted in November of 2016. This grants 16 year old residents of Glenarden the right to vote in local elections. This Charter Amendment which lowered the voting age from 18-16 years old, was a decision made by the former City Council, because it made Glenarden the 3rd City in Prince George’s County to allow 16 year olds the right to vote. Here and now, some of the newly elected members of the Council members are giving their full support.
It is suggested that Principals, the Student Government Association, students and other faculty members attend our Council Meeting next Monday, December 11th at 7:30pm, to voice your opinion of support if you think that 16-18 year olds should be given a chance to learn the importance of voting through Voter Education Programs in your school and with support and participation from the City Administration and Council. Please join in care of saving the 16 year old voting rights in Glenarden!
