CHFHS Debate Team Dominates at WUDL Classic

On January 27, 2018, more than 230 students from thirty-six schools participated in the 4th Annual Washington Urban Debate League regular season tournament of the year. The tournament was held at Alice Deal Middle School, in Washington, D.C. The tournament serves as the first half of the Flowers Debate Team’s qualification process for the Urban Debate National Championship. This season, the championship will be hosted at Georgetown University.
The team of Paris Smalley and Justice Westbrook led the way, placing 6th, overall. They were the best team with one loss in the tournament. Smalley was the third best speaker overall in the tournament as well.
They are substantially in the race for the spot in represent the Washington Debate League at the Urban Debate National Championship. The qualifiers for the championship will be determined at Largo High School on February 10, 2018.
