“Dear Counselor;
Thank you for your continued support of the Alfred Street Baptist Church Foundation scholarship program.   With your help we have awarded more than $1 million in need-based scholarships to more than 200 high school students in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
I have attached, for your information, a copy of the 2018 Application which will be available from February 26, 2018 through April 8, 2018 online at
A program summary showing the high schools from which scholarship recipients have graduated and the colleges they have attended is also attached.
This year, we have made several changes to the application and selection process of which students should be made aware:
1.     Paper applications will not be accepted.  Students must apply online.
2.     Transcripts and recommendations must be emailed by counselors, teachers or other school officials to [email protected].  The applicant’s last name followed by the first name should be on the subject line.  Unofficial copies emailed by students will not be considered.
3.     SAT score reports should be sent by the College Board.  Our code is 7190.  Students should also include their best scores on the application.
4.     ACT score reports should be sent by the ACT organization.  Our code is 7884
5.     We have narrowed our service area.  Applicants who are not members of Alfred Street Baptist Church must graduate from a high school in Washington, D.C., Prince Georges County, MD;  Arlington, VA;  Fairfax County, VA; Alexandria, VA; or Falls Church, VA.
Please share this information with interested students.  We will review all complete applications in April, interview finalists in May, and award scholarships in early June, 2018.
Julia Gibbs, Chair
Scholarship Committee”
