On April 15th, 2018 around 7:15 pm a  large gang altercation occurred at the Lee, South Carolina prison facility.  The riot lasted from 7:15 PM to 3 AM. On Monday morning, officials said this had been the biggest prison riot the facility has ever seen since 1993 leaving 7 people dead and 17 people injured. The riot began due to gang-affiliated prisoner altercations and as such this incident have been labeled as a gang incident.  One inmate tells the news that “people was just laughing at the people that was dying and that most of them died from stab wounds and and slashes from from the knives being used”. Hopefully the law can handle everything and the facility can proceed to run as normal!
