My Modeling Experience

Aji Njie

Out of all the things you can do, why do you prefer to model? What do you benefit from modeling? I get asked these questions a lot, and so my honest statement to these inquiries is that when I model, I feel like nothing else matters. When I am on the runway or behind the camera, I neglect everything. I model for Flowers ASA and GGI Worldwide clothing line.
Modeling is not as easy as some people think; confidence is a necessity for you to succeed with the modeling experience. There are people around me that want to see my defeat, even the people who are on my team. Everybody strives to be the best, so every person wants to be at the top; that being said, having friends in the modeling world is rare. What my grandmother always told me is that “since friend to friend is so unjust, we do not know which ones to trust. We have trusted many to our sorrows, friends today enemies tomorrow.” This quote is something that will remain with me. I know what I want, and I am going to seize it by any means necessary.
Modeling for a clothing line is not as easy as posing and looking cute; you have to pose for the correct lighting, different poses for different outfits, etc. You have to remain strong to be a model, and you must learn how to push through. On my last show, my ankle got swollen the day before, but I knew that if I was going to open the runway, I had to push through, and leave everything on that stage, so I did precisely that.
