Operation Smile provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe. A real life example is when Operation Smile repaired a six years old girl cleft lip.

“The cleft lip Fu Yun was born with made eating and speaking difficult. Other children laughed at her and made her cry.She wanted so badly to go to school and have friends. Instead, she hid herself away at home. Her parents were poor farmers with no money to repair her lip. So Fu Yun had nowhere to turn – until Operation Smile sent a medical mission team to nearby Lin Cang City. After getting a free medical exam, Fu Yan was chosen for surgery. Her father Yong Xing was delighted. His daughter’s new smile meant she could now go to school and have a normal, happy childhood. “I am very thankful and grateful,” said Yong Xing.
