Maya Angelou is an incredibly inspirational individual. She is an author, poet, and activist who is a cultural pioneer. Her birth name was Marguerite Annie Johnson Angelou, and she was born on April 4, 1928.
Maya Angelou set a prime example for future black authors and black literature as a whole.  She is best known for her memoir  “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” which released in 1969. The biography is about her childhood, as well as her years as a young adult. This autobiography made her the first African American woman to have a non-fiction best seller.
