Maria P. Williams

Maria P. Williams was the first African-American to produce, distribute, and act in her film called The Flames of Wrath in 1923. Williams was known for being a social activist and leader, and she not only produced movies, but she wrote books too, including My Work and Public Sentiment in 1916. I see Williams as a role model for my wanted future career. She dared to be the first to do something other women had not; producing and directing films.
