Manhood 101 Blackface

Manhood 101’s most recent lecture was about the infamous blackface which has been going on for years now. A video was shown to illustrate how blackface has been dating back to the 1920s.  Blackface was a common thing in which white people used to burn cork and rub it on their faces to give themselves a dark look acting foolish, walking funny. and singing to make fun of black people.

Megyn Kelly (NBC host) defended blackface as Halloween costumes on Tuesday, February 26th. She mentioned how growing up it was okay for white people to dress up as a black character for Halloween, and  she questioned “how it was racist?” Also just recently Gucci has made a blackface sweater. Do you think it was intentional, or is it like Megyn Kelly’s situation in which racism is not seen, therefore it is acceptable?
