FOOTBALL PREVIEW – Flowers vs. Bladensburg Varsity Game Set for Saturday
September 15, 2012
An early season battle of undefeated teams at Jaguar Stadium
How do you top a nationally televised game winning Hail Mary touchdown?
That’s exactly what Flowers (2-0, 1-0 in conference play) and Bladensburg (2-0, 1-0 in conference play) will try to do on Saturday. This is their first meeting since the 25-20 thriller last year that saw the Jaguars come out on top – thanks to that Hail Mary touchdown, one of the greatest plays in school history.
The fantastic game-clinching score was so great that it managed the number one spot on ESPN’s Sportscenter Top 10 list, where it held its crown as the “Best of the Best” for an impressive 2 weeks.
The Jaguars hope that the result will be the same, but without the last second heroics. They’ve managed to look impressive this year, dominating Largo in Week 1 (26-7) and completely annihilating Parkdale last Saturday (61-0). They hope to replicate their 4-0 start from last season, and then to improve upon it.
This game is the last of Flowers’ season-opening 3 game homestand. After Saturday’s game, the Jaguars will travel to Northwestern High for a Friday night game with the Wildcats.
