The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) was founded over 25 years ago. NBCAM is a collaboration of national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies that are dedicated to bringing awareness to people about what they do to support the women that have breast cancer.
A PINKOUT was supposed to be hosted on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 by the ladies of the F.Y.I Mentoring Program but due to weather it was postponed to November 1st, 2012.
This program is sponsored by Ms. Porchea (an English teacher), Ms. Benons, Mr. Myles, Ms. Price, Ms. Rivers and Mr. Washington. They all have devoted their time to building these young ladies up and giving them the guidance they need.
Ms. Porchea has stated that “we are really excited to give back to these women who have breast cancer, overcame breast cancer and the women who did not”.
A percentage of the proceeds will be going to a breast cancer organization. Donations will be collected by class: Ms. Porchea-9th grade rm. 203 Mr. Myles-10th grade rm. 762 Ms. Benons-11th grade rm. 110 Ms. Price-12th grade rm. 220
On Nov. 1, 2012 the students who have given a $2 donation will receive a pink wristband and will be able to wear any pink item of their choice and their uniform bottoms.
