Art/Poetry Contest: No Excuse For Dating Abuse Teen Summit

 To any teens that would like to enter the visual arts and poetry contest!!  The 2020Teen Summit is hosted at Martins at Camelot on Thursday, February 13, 2020; they will be hosting a fashion show, giveaways, refreshment, teen panel, photo booth, and entertainment.

Start your year off by joining them for their Paint and Parley where the group will discuss Human Trafficking and how to keep our youth safe as well as Teen dating violence.





February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. According to, one in three teenagers reports knowing a friend or peer who has been hit, punched, kicked, slapped, choked, or physically hurt by their partner. For the last seven years, the Teen Dating Violence Summit has brought valuable information and resources to teenagers in Prince George’s County.  


Visual and Poetry Contest:

I am inviting students ages 13-21 to create a piece of visual art or poets to create a written piece depicting self-love. 


Visual Arts Criteria

Eligible types of media are: 

  • paintings
  • sculptures
  • 3D art
  • collages
  • graphic art
  • photography


We are asking that:

  • Submissions are brought to Brittany Russell, Bowie Community Center, 3209 Stonybrook Dr., Bowie
  • Contestants email[email protected] with a photo of your work and the date you intend to bring your Art Work to the Center
  • Submissions are tasteful with no derogatory images, implications, or language.



Poetry/Spoken Word Criteria


We are asking that:

  • Submissions are no more than 3 minutes
  • Submissions are uploaded on YouTube
  • Contestants send the YouTube link to [email protected]
  • Submissions are tasteful since the link will be downloaded to our Xtreme Teens social media sites.
  • Contestants please go to the social media sites and share the link
  • Participants invite family and friends to come out and vote


The winners of the contest will be chosen during the “No Excuse for Dating Abuse Teen Summit on Thursday, February 13, 2020; MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN.
