An Amber Alert was issued on December 16, 2019, for Karol Sanchez, 16, who was kidnapped as she was walking down the street with her mother.

The crime was committed at around 11:20 P.M. along Eagle Avenue near East 156th Street in Melrose section.

Surveillance camera footage was obtained that captured the act. Two men pulled out of a tan four-door van and grabbed the teen. Allegedly, the mother was knocked to the ground attempting to save her daughter.

According to an NYPD statement, “The vehicle, also occupied by two additional unknown males, then fled eastbound. The mother, left at the scene, was not injured and refused medical attention.”

The motive for the kidnapping and whether Sanchez recognized her assailants is still unknown as the investigation is ongoing.

“The child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious harm and/or death,” the Amber Alert stated.

Police are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the capture of the four male suspects that witnesses say were wearing black articles of clothing, presumably in their 20’s.
