The Fire Cadet Program here at Charles Herbert Flowers High School is very educational and beneficial for your future. Here in Prince George’s County the Fire Cadet Program is only located in 2 high schools, these high schools are Gwynn Park High School and here at Charles Herbert Flowers High School. The Fire Science Cadet Program prepares students with opportunities in the Firefighting Emergency Medical Services. Students receive the proper training for this type of lifestyle/job. To join this program you must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, you must show and encourage good behavior and you must be a good role model for your peers and surroundings. To prepare for this program you must workout! To prepare students for this lifestyle they must suit up and go into homemade fires within a time limit. Students will have to wear their Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency EMS Department (PGFD) uniform to school everyday. Not only is the Fire Cadet Program beneficial but it is also fun! Students find themselves meeting new people, making new friends, learning about each other, and encouragement by other students throughout this program. With the Fire Cadet Program you will obtain the skills and tools you need for your future as well as obtain life-long connections.
