Psychology Tip of the Week: Quick Stress Relievers For Overwhelming Moments
October 11, 2013
When you just feel like banging your head against the wall, don’t do it. There are other ways to relieve that “I-have-so-much-to-do-with-so-little-time” feeling. Here are some ways to relieve stress in a few seconds.
-
30 second dance party- With or without music, stand up and start dancing for 30 seconds.
-
Deep breathing- Take a couple seconds to stop, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and exhale. When you open your eyes, you should feel relaxed.
-
Pet your pet- If you have a furry friend, petting them can release stress because feeling the softness of your pet’s hair can release endorphins (natural stress relievers).
-
Do one thing at a time- Multi-tasking will only make you lose focus because you are trying to do more than one thing at the same time, confusing your brain.
