Virginia Bates

County executives are asking every resident to please stay at home. Stay at home orders have been issued in Maryland, DC, and Virginia to help in the fight against the COVID-19. These are lifesaving measures not meant to scare us but to protect the entire community.

COVID-19 does not discriminate old, young, male, and female are all at risk. We’re seeing the number the positive cases increase daily and we must do our part to slow the spread. The stay at home order requires each of us to stay home unless you must go out for an essential function including trips to the grocery store, financial institutions, caring for loved ones, going to see your doctor, or to get medication. You may also go outside for a walk or exercise always practicing social distancing by staying 6 feet apart. If you do need to leave your home for an essential reason it is very important that you cover your face with some sort of covering like a bandanna, mask, or T-shirt.

County executives have issued an executive order requiring that all residents must wear face covering when going into stores and riding public transportation. This will take effect on Wednesday, April 15.

Staying home, practicing social distancing, and covering our faces in public are only proven tools to successfully fight COVID-19. All of us should adhere to this life saving guidance.
