The Gospel Project: Sin

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

What is sin?

Well, according to 1 John 3:4, sin is breaking God’s laws. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus states the most crucial law: “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind” (NLT). From birth, we are sinners because we naturally hate God. We dislike everything about Him and long to have nothing to do with Him. We seek various man-made reasonings to explain His glorious creations instead of attributing them to Him. We deny Him and make it our life’s goal to break all His laws by ignoring Him.

Well, I know I’m a sinner, so what now?

Now, accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. God sent Him to die for you so that He would forgive your sins. Without the blood Jesus shed on the cross, we would have already faced God’s wrath and judgment. When we are born, we are sinners. But, when we are born again, meaning we are washed in the cleansing blood of Jesus, we are made new and become children of God. Our slates are clean, and our sins are forgiven. When you accept Jesus into your heart, He removes every sin, no matter how awful; there is no sin too horrible for Him to forgive. It doesn’t matter whether you lied, stole, cheated, lusted, fornicated, or blasphemed God. He knows all your sins and will forgive you when you give your life to Him! How awesome is it to know that God will readily forgive your sins when you acknowledge His love and greatness? Come to Him today; He loves you and will make you clean. Ask Him to come into your life, to forgive your sins, and to make you whole, and He will.
