“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’” John 8:12

Darkness swirls around me like a thick fog

I don’t know where I am.

I don’t know how to get out of here.

I am so alone and trapped in this quagmire of solitude and fear.

There’s no hope for me.

There’s no way out.

I stumble while making my way through this dark abyss.

My body lurches towards the ground.

My skin connects with the hard, unmerciful floor.

Alone in this darkness and despair, I let out a sob.

No one cares.

No one can help.

But then, like a bright star glistening against an inky night sky, a radiant light erupts all around me.

A hand stretches forth.

A hand that offers life, hope, and peace.

Immediately,  I grasp the hand, forgetting that I’d been ambling through darkness a few moments ago.

Jesus is so bright that I can’t see His face.

Jesus is so bright that He chased away the darkness tormenting me.

He says, “I am the light of the world. I am the light that leads to life.

With me, you won’t walk in darkness anymore.

With me, you will walk in light. Will you follow me?”

What a Savior! He freely and eagerly offers me life! I reply,

“Yes, I will follow You!

Yes, I will walk with You all the days of my life.”
