Christmas is right around the corner. People in America celebrate Christmas on December 25th. Americans celebrate Christmas by hanging stockings, driving around to see Christmas lights, building a gingerbread house, and leaving out cookies and milk for Santa Claus. These are all fun activities and traditions that many people do to celebrate but let’s learn about how Hispanics celebrate and spend their time during Christmas.
Each Hispanic-speaking country celebrates Christmas a little differently but what they all have in common is that they start on December 24th. On December 24th, families come together and have a huge feast. They eat delicious homemade food made by the mothers of the family. When it hits midnight, families hug and say “Feliz Navidad” to each other. If the families have a “Nascimento” (mangers), they put baby Jesus in the manger to congratulate him for his birth.
No matter how you celebrate during this time, be around family and friends that you love. ¡Feliz Navidad a todos! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all!
