Dear Charles Herbert Flowers High School Community,
This letter is intended to inform you that several individuals in our school have tested positive for COVID-19.
Anyone determined to have been in close contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 will receive an additional notification. “Close contact” is defined as being within six feet for 15 minutes or more. In accordance with our protocol, we closed the areas used by the individual until the identified areas could be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. We will follow additional guidance from the Prince George County Health Department as necessary to protect the safety and well-being of all students and staff.
People who test positive will not be allowed to return to school / work until they have been cleared by a health care provider. Due to privacy guidelines, we cannot share additional information about the person who tested positive. Fully vaccinated people who show symptoms of COVID-19 and test positive for COVID-19 must self-isolate for 10 days and can return to the school building on Day 11, unless otherwise directed by the health department of Prince George County. Fully vaccinated people who show symptoms of COVID-19 and test negative for COVID-19 may return when symptoms have resolved and the applicable criteria in the Communicable Disease Summary have been met.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include ONE of the following:
- fever of 100.4 or higher
- sore throat
- cough
- difficulty breathing
- diarrhea
- vomiting
- new onset of severe headache (especially with fever)
- new discharge of taste or new loss of smell
For people with chronic conditions such as asthma, symptoms should represent a change from baseline. We encourage you to seek the advice of a healthcare practitioner if you have any concerns about potential exposure to COVID-19. If you do not have a health care provider, please contact the Prince George County Health Department at 301-883-6627 or go online to find more information on free county-run testing sites .
We will continue to monitor the situation and the Prince George County Health Department will notify you of any updates. Please continue to perform daily temperature checks and symptom screens every day before coming to school. Do not enter the PGCPS buildings if you feel ill. Please inform the nurse or school principal if you or your child has symptoms of COVID-19, if your test is positive for COVID-19, or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 during the course. of the last 14 days. If your child shows any symptoms of illness, please keep them at home!
Thank you for your collaboration.
Truly,
