CBC, Community Based Classrooms. is an free alternative high school for students that can’t attend the traditional high schools that we go to. This organization helps seniors to get there high school diploma. It has been opened since 1989 and has a 95% graduation rate. CBC helps students that can’t attend traditional schools due to behavior, work, or even if they have a family to take care of. Prince George’s County Public School are now shutting CBC down due to there new budget. They need 1,000 signatures, to save CBC sign its petition on change.org and look up “Save Community Based Classrooms Alternative High School Now!!”, to give these students another change for education.

It’s unfair how they are trying to take this away.

Still having cbc is a good idea .

I hope that CBC receives the support they need in order to stay open for those in need.

Where is the petition?

I signed the petition because I believe everybody deserves a second chance. Schools like these keep black youth off the prison pipeline.

I signed the petition for this and I really hope it helps because this whole situation is bad and we need people to look at it and continue to do everything we can to help.

This is very unfair, the students who attend here deserve a shot at life. They should be prioritized because they are the future.

I signed the petition for this. I don’t understand why PG is so set on shutting CBC down knowing that it helps students who are unable to go to traditional high schools. Everyone deserves a chance at education and the fact PG is so willing to shut that down is appalling.

This isn’t fair, I hope all goes well.

Sad that a lot of at risk kids will not be able to get their diploma if this Alternative school shuts down.
Joshua Onyejiekwe • Jan 31, 2022 at 1:55 PM
Hope the school doesn’t shut down

I am completely shocked at this information. Wow. The fact that Prince George’s County Schools is so willing to dismantle CBC is absolutely insane. CBC gives way for students who are not able to work in the traditional environment, a place to be. And I appreciate that. I will be spreading around this petition as much as I can for support!

When my teacher sent out the link, I signed the petition immediately. I have cousins and friends thats been to alternative school because they needed a second chance, its upsetting to thing that something that does so much good for a community is being taken away. We should sign the petition.

I heard about this. I signed the petition and I hope others will too. It’s not fair and I hope it all works out.

I feel that we should be aware of many students situations and personal problems and find a way to slide this into the budget. This is not only helping PG but also is showing how though it may not be a regular high school it is still doing well.

I think having this school in pg county is important. If there was no alternative school some people would definitely be negatively impacted.
