Assertion Journal #1

“Ships at a distance have every man’s wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others they sail forever on the horizon, never out of sight, never landing until the Watcher turns his eyes away in resignation, his dreams mocked to death by Time. That is the life of men.” – Zora Neale Hurston

Based on the quote from Zora Neale Hurston, the author’s assertion is that every man has a dream whether it is far or near they have one. Also, the author is saying that some men’s dreams are achieved with time and some out of reach until the person gives up on it. Everyone has a dream. Some dreams come when we expect, and others take a longer time to come true. For the dreams that take a longer time to come true, we lose hope and stop reaching for that goal. Overall, this quote is referring to people’s goals and dreams and how they achieve it in different ways. It comes easier to others and some don’t achieve it at all.

Some people’s wishes and dreams can go on forever and it’s hard to keep busy, some people die trying and others give up. In life people try so hard to make the right choices and go the extra mile and basically just everyone follows each other. We are all just trying to make it through. God never said there would be no troubles. God promises to walk with us in our troubles. Whatever you may be facing today, embrace this truth and take a deep breath knowing that God’s got this.

There have been far too many moments in my life where I’ve said to myself, “I can’t. I’m done.” But one thing I realized is that doing hard things takes guts. It takes courage, perseverance and mental strength to do what the body thinks it can’t accomplish. What I’m trying to say is that, if you ever find yourself at the point of giving up today, I encourage you to keep moving. Try your very best to stay positive. Even if that moment is slow and ugly, just move. With God all things are possible, and know who you are at your best and worst. Life can be unexpected sometimes. Unexpected things happen and we can choose how we let that affect us.It doesn’t matter how hard life is, was, or will be just don’t give up on yourself/dreams.
