Love Is Not Enough…

Marriage Needs To Be Discussed Before Enacted

Deontae Roach, Reporter/Writer

According to a study done by Wilkinson & Finkbeiner Family Law Attorney’s, nearly 50% of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation, while researchers also estimates that 41% of all first marriages will end in divorce.

It’s obvious that many of us are very young and marriage may not even be in consideration as of now. However, many people may become confused and caught in a fantasy that they will be with their significant other for a long time. In all honesty, this is a very unrealistic perspective that a lot of people have. People become blinded by love because of the belief that it is only an emotion. Love is an action and it will continue even after the most uncomfortable circumstances.

Uncomfortable situations show a person’s true colors and intentions. It’s so easy to buy a person a rose or a box of chocolates and say “I love you” But what does that mean? Nothing. A person who loves you would stick beside you in moments of weakness on either side. That is why it is important to go through uncomfortable situations with our partners. You don’t have to only talk about their intentions, but their goals and perspectives in life.

You’d be surprised by how positively or negatively these conversations would impact your relationship. If you’re in a relationship, then you can determine whether you want to continue to be in a relationship with your significant other. If you’re not in a relationship, then you can know what to look forward to without the blind-sighting of love.

Here are lists of other important topics to consider discussing:

Bills, parenting styles, credit, debt, religion, how to deal with family, what beliefs will be instilled in your children, childhood traumas, partner expectations, financial expectations, family health history, mental health history, lifelong bucket list, dream home, careers, education, opinion on a prenup, political views, and societal views.

Hopefully reading this will show you the importance of communication.
