What Do You Know About Women’s History Month?

Today’s Doodle for Google is for Women’s Day. Today, March 8, 2022, is International Women’s Day.
March 7, 2022
March is Women’s History Month. The first women’s history day was celebrated in 1909 and later became an international holiday in 1911. Then, in 1978, Women’s History Day became Women’s History Week. It finally became a month in 1987 because of a petition by the National Women’s History Project. Now that you know about how it came to be, here’s some facts that you may not have known about:
- Every Women’s History Month has a theme and the theme for 2022 is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.”
- The first state to allow women to vote was the Wyoming Territory in 1869.
- Women couldn’t get credit cards in their own name until 1974.
- Women make up 16 percent of active military members.
- Since 1995, every president has issued a women’s history month proclamation.
I hope you enjoyed reading these facts as much as I did and I hope I was able to give information that you may have never heard about before. Happy Women’s History Month!

Much admiration to that 16% of women because I know it can’t be easy to be in those positions in the military.
