Autism Acceptance Month
April 5, 2022
April is Autism Acceptance Month! This autism acceptance month, remember to not support ableist organizations such as Autism Speaks. Ableism is discrimination and prejudice towards people with disabilities or perceived to be disabled. Be an ally to autistic people this month and every month! Don’t use functioning labels such as “high functioning” or “low functioning.” Don’t support Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy as it is very harmful. It forces children to ignore their instincts and boundaries just to “act normal.” This will negatively impact their judgement and relationship building in the future. Educate yourself and be respectful!

This is great that there’s a month all about Autism. This has to be talked about more so others can understand and learn about Autism.

This is a subject that needs to be talked about more. It should even be taught to younger kids in school.
