Shooting at Colorado Springs LGBTQ club leaves 5 dead and shatters safe haven provided by the venue

That dance floor saw a brutal attack take place less than an hour later. As midnight drew near, a shooter broke into the nightclub and started shooting, killing at least 5 people and injuring 25, according to authorities, shattering the safe haven for the LGBTQ community in Colorado Springs, Colorado. At 11:56 p.m., many 911 calls were received, prompting police to dispatch themselves to the area. According to Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez, when they arrived, they discovered that at least two people inside the location had neutralized the shooter and stopped additional carnage.
