Should schools enforce tougher security?
January 9, 2023
A new ID requirement is being implemented at Charles Herbert Flowers high school. Students will have to come with their school IDs every day, and carry them with them everywhere. This has proven to be very controversial around the school. Many students and even teachers find the whole thing unnecessary.
After the IDs what will come next? Metal detectors? Mandatory pat downs? Locker and bag searches? I personally think the no non-see-through bookbag policy was enough. Schools could slowly become glorified prisons.
What positive change will enforcing this new policy bring? We live in crazy times, but is this really the way, especially when we’re almost halfway through the school year?
