After the first half, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, mace was anonymously sprayed into the Suitland locker room and the game was later cancelled as several players were unable to breathe and needed medical attention. The second half of the game did not continue until Thursday, March 3, 2016. The Lady Jags won in the second half of the game which was a closed game to all spectators.
The Jags then hosted, the defending State Champions, Roosevelt, on Saturday, March 5. Flowers lead the entire game by as much as 14 points. With a short bench and foul trouble, the lady Raiders caught up and sent the game into overtime. Unfortunately, the Jaguars lost 3 of their starting 5 players due to injuries and foul trouble. Both teams shared baskets back and forth until Roosevelt scored with 3 seconds remaining in overtime to win the game.
Although both the boys and girls basketball team fought hard throughout the season, dreams of becoming Maryland’s state champions were cut short by the Raiders.
