October 20th, 2016 marks a special day for the Charles Herbert Flowers Girls Cross Country Team. Counties has always been the Jags main focus during the cross country season although the battle has been between Eleanor Roosevelt High School and Bowie High School for the past 5 years. Coach Bryan Brown, Coach Terence Sheppard, and Coach Bradley Brown made sure their team was prepared for this event. The Jaguars have two state titles from indoor and outdoor Track and Field. The pressure was intense, which required each athlete to focus on each goal that was set to begin Indoor Track and Field with a successful Cross Country season. The top Scorers for this event are Javon Watts (1st place), Telicia Farmer (2nd place), and Dejah Grant (3rd place), Nina Rutherford (11th place), Temi Adeyri (21st place), Manuelene Deigh (25th place), Ashanti Cato (38th place).
Junior Varsity Race runners included Manuela Deigh (4th place) and Nykia Campbell (5th place). During an interview, first place runner Javon Watts stated “I feel that it was a great accomplishment for this to be my first cross country season and take first place in each meet”. Senior Telicia Farmer was awarded The Bob Leo award for the Top Senior Girl in the Varsity A Race. The girls not only won the County Title but also won the Division Title. Congratulations Jags on your success. Good Luck on your Regional and State Meet!
