Manhood 101 Trip To The Smithsonian Of Black History

On Saturday November 26th, A selected few Manhood 101 members, went on a trip to the National museum of African American history and culture. The students were selected by the top highest GPA. The students departed around 11am and returned around 4:30pm.

While the students were there, they were required to come back with one piece of artifact that they can report to other members. I interviewed a student and asked, “What is the piece of artifact that you selected and does it have any connection to you?”.
I first interviewed Jalen Lee and this is what he had to say: “Shackles was something that was significant because it shows how they would chain us up and treat us like animals not as the humans we are. It shows all the things are people have been through, throughout history.”
Members instructed that when you go, you should start from the bottom then work your way up. The artifacts are layered out from the darkest times to the present.
